You Don’t Have to Leave Your Faith at the Door

Scripture Already Made Room for Your Question

“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14 (KJV)

That verse was written for people who were already praying, and you have been.

You’ve handed this over, counted what you’re grateful for, and gotten up the next morning with your mind still going.

And underneath all of it, the quiet one: If my faith is strong, why am I still struggling like this?

Faith and Hurt Live in You at the Same Time

A lamp does one job. It shows you what’s actually in the room.

On days you had nothing else, you reached for your faith and walked by whatever light it gave. It doesn’t have to be burning bright to come in with you.

What that light has been showing you lately is how tired you are. In here, that’s the first thing we look at.

Being the strong one, keeping the peace, forgiving fast, pushing through: somewhere back there, those got taught to you as faithfulness.

Praying About It and Working On It Are Both Yours

You gave it to God on Monday and picked it back up by Wednesday.

Then you took that as evidence about your faith.

Picking it up again on Wednesday is just Wednesday.

In that verse, counsel sits inside a life that already has prayer in it. Safety is the word it lands on.

Bring Your Faith In as Far as You Want It

I’m a licensed mental health counselor, and what happens in session is clinical work.

My part is the anxiety, the guilt, the people-pleasing, and the pressure to always be strong. Pastoral care, spiritual direction and biblical counseling are their own work, and I’ll say when something belongs there.

When you want biblical principles in the room, say so and we’ll use them in your own words.

When you’d rather leave that part outside for a session, that’s yours to call too.

Trace Your Patterns Back to Where They Started

CBT takes on the thoughts still going when you wake up, and DBT skills handle the pressure without you shutting down or blowing up.

Underneath that, psychodynamic and trauma-informed work goes after where the pattern first made sense to you.

And I give homework. Something to write, something to notice, one small step out in your actual week.

We open the next session with whatever came of it.

Your Own Jubilee Starts with Release

Jubilee was a year of release.

People went home, and what they owed was let go.

That’s the sense I want you near again: room to release what you’ve decided you owe, refine how you handle what stays, and rise without leaving your own humanity at the door.

You’ll still pray about it. And you’ll have somewhere to bring the part that needs working through.
